Time keeps ticking away and now here we are in November! It seems like I just posted my October Goals (see Oct. Goals 2015) and I had stated I would get my November Goals up sooner than mid month and here we are in the first week so I would say I am doing pretty good! 😉 I sat down on Sunday November 1st to go over goals and set new ones for November…love when it works out to do it on the very first day of the month! My Type A personality loves when it works out that way..(I usually sit down to do planning and goals on Sunday afternoons) 🙂
Here is the breakdown and recap of my Oct. 2015 Goals:
*Update both kids’ baby books (there have been several events including birthdays, etc. that I need to record before more of life goes by and it gets to be too overwhelming!)- This unfortunately did not get done…I had good intentions and even got the books out but that is as far as I got!
*Continue “Fun Fridays” with Brantley and Paisley when she is home from school (special once a week kid-centered activities!)– Yes we were able to do something fun each Friday and I am making this part of our routine! *Have a one on one “date” with Paisley (We already did this and went shopping for Halloween costumes and we also had planner/calendar time together!)– Yes as I stated when I posted these goals we did have a one on one “date” time together…we went Halloween costume shopping! *Schedule a family day…a day where we do something just the 4 of us! (We already did this also…we enjoyed a day at our zoo where we have a season pass and enjoyed the animals, the weather and made memories!)– Yes! Again this was already done when I posted the goals but I love crossing things off and feeling that sense of accomplishment! 🙂
*Schedule a date night/day (we decided to switch off every other month who plans these so Oct is Seth’s month…I am still not sure what we are doing, but it is planned for this Saturday evening so we will see!) 😉– Yes! Seth planned an “at home” date night….we enjoyed a warm fire, adult beverages, conversation and a few games of Jenga. 🙂 *Write a love note to Seth.– Yes! I love putting my thoughts down on paper about my husband…he doesn’t hear enough how much I appreciate him! <3 *Attend 1 NFP appointment together. (This refers to the natural family planning model we are learning to implement…it is the Creighton Model and we go to Pope Paul the XI Institute. We are loving it and learning so much about family, God, life and each other…highly recommended!! Our apt is tomorrow…we are about half way through the learning process.)– Yes! I am really enjoying us learning this process together! The strengthening of our marriage through this process has been an added plus for sure! *Finish Financial Peace University class together and complete the homework together on Sundays. (This is another amazing process we are going through…let me tell you God is leading us down some incredible learning journeys right now…I am so glad we are listening! We had a class last night, will do our homework this Sunday afternoon and have one more class next week!)– Yes! We finished our class and Baby Step #1! We are excited about all we have learned and looking forward to completing more Baby Steps soon!
*Get 6 or more glasses of water in each day (This is a difficult one for me! I start off good, but the day gets away from me…keeping track with stickers does help me…still working on this one!)- This has not happened…I am still working on it!
*Attend 3 or more Jazzercise classes each week! (This is one in which it depends on the week…I achieved it last week but because of parent/teacher conferences and other things I will probably only get 2 in this week….better than none and will try again next week!)- This is another one that got away from me…I did state it depended on the week…still working on it!
*Continue to read from my motherhood devotional (I love my ‘morning time’…getting up before the kids and taking time to pray, read and study God’s word…truly a life changer! The name of the devotional is “Walking with God in the Season of Motherhood” by Melissa B. Kruger. I will post more about it in the Reading Nook soon!)- Yes and no…I can’t really cross it off since I am not done with it yet, although I did consistently read it through October…I also did not post about it in the ‘Reading Nook’ yet, but plan to soon…
*Create a prayer/morning time notebook-basket. (Again I love my ‘morning time’, so anything to streamline that time and allow me even more time to enjoy my reading, etc. is amazing! I have read some people have special notebooks and journals for their gratitude, prayers and bible studies so my hope is to create something like this and contain it all in a little basket by where I sit so it is easy to get to, get into and start my daily ‘morning time’.)- I did not get this done, but am carrying it over into November.
*Attend confession at our parish. (This is something that I do not do as often as I should…I need to make it a priority so it is on my list of personal goals.)– Yes! This was a huge thing for me and such a relief…going to make this a more regular goal!
*Finish our Dave Ramsey class (this is basically what I had up on one of our marriage goals, but there are three subgoals to go along with it…see below)– Yes! I wrote about it above 🙂 -Complete Baby Step #1, which is to have $1000 in an emergency fund (a start up emergency fund and we are very close!)– Yes!! It feels so good to be continuing onto the next baby step…
-Start Baby Step #2, paying off all debt except for our mortgage.– We are on this step but haven’t officially started yet…we are hitting it hard this month!
-Start our Christmas budget and saving toward it.– Yes and no…we started writing down numbers and saving, but writing out a more specific budget this weekend!
*Work on clearing clutter from our basement and selling/donating “stuff” (This goes along with the top money goals since any money earned from selling would go toward our baby steps!)– This is on-going so I am not going to cross it off just yet!
*Create a “password” sheet. (Already done and put where it needs to be…makes my life easier as I never can remember my usernames or passwords!)– Yes!
* 1 jewelry show (I am currently a Premier Designs Jeweler although I have been slowing down lately due to other priorities….it does help with the money goals at the moment so my goal is to have one this month to help us in that area)– Yes! I was able to earn enough money to help toward Baby Step 1 🙂
*Start an email subscription on this blog (I have been wanting to do this for awhile, but was waiting to publish more posts first…make sure you subscribe once I do! You don’t want to miss out on all the fun!) :-)- I am still researching this and hope to get it done in November!
*Post 10 or more posts on this blog.- This will be post #10!
As you can see I was able to cross many things off, but there are many things that were not crossed off or only slightly achieved…that is ok! Life happens and we adjust and move on! I have to carry some goals over to the next month at times and also reevaluate the time I have for that month and look at what I am expecting of myself realistically….it is always a struggle because I want to write so much more down than what I do, but I have to give myself grace to know this is sufficient for now, for this season in my life and to save myself from frustration and overload 🙂 I do look at my previous month’s goals when writing the new month goals and also at my yearly goals (see My 2015 Goals)
Here are my November 2015 Goals:
*Update Baby Books (carry over from October 🙂 )
*Make sure both Seth and I have a one on one “date” with Paisley.
*Schedule our November Family Day (as of now it is Sat Nov 21st!)
*Make our Thanksgiving plan with family (hoping to do this soon so it is not last minute)
*Date with Seth (I am in charge of planning this month…I have already scheduled babysitting for Sat Nov 14th and it will be a day date!) 🙂
*Attend 1 NFP apt together
*Write a love note to Seth.
*Sit and talk together for at least 10-20 minutes after kids are in bed. (I have found that we tend to go off and do our own thing and I want to build our connection and communication so just the two of us touching base at the end of each day will be a good thing!)
*Get 6 or more glasses of water in each day! (carry over from last month)
*Attend 3 or more Jazzercise classes each week! (carry over from last month)
**Create a prayer/morning time notebook-basket. (Again I love my ‘morning time’, so anything to streamline that time and allow me even more time to enjoy my reading, etc. is amazing! I have read some people have special notebooks and journals for their gratitude, prayers and bible studies so my hope is to create something like this and contain it all in a little basket by where I sit so it is easy to get to, get into and start my daily ‘morning time’….this is a carry over from last month!)
*Start the book “Unglued” by Lysa Turkuest and the coinciding online bible study through Proverbs 31 Ministries. (I am putting the Motherhood devotional on hold until I am done with this study and then starting it back up again.)
*Continue with our Dave Ramsey baby steps….work on baby step #2, which is paying off all non-mortgage debt…I know we will not be able to get through the entire step this month, but the goal is to get 2 of the 4 debts paid off this month using the debt snowball!
*Create a Christmas budget and continue to put $ in savings for it…completing the savings this month!
*Finish all insurance changes! Through our Dave Ramsey class we learned about some changes to our various insurance policies that we should make plus some we needed to add…it is somewhat of a lengthy process but our goal is to have it all done and set this month!
*Continue to organize the basement and closets by donating and selling extra stuff! (this comes at a great time since I need to switch out closets for the colder weather!)
*Set up an email subscription on this blog!
*Read two business related books. (My plan is to read How to Blog for Profit Without Selling Your Soul by Ruth Soukup and Money Making Mom by Crystal Paine)
*Complete Crystal Paine’s Make Over Your Calendar course.
*Set up social media accounts for this blog…my goal is to get Facebook and Instagram first!
I would love to hear from you- what are your goals for November?
